So You Want To Run The 5k?

In 2018 Skeena Valley Runners hosted our first ever race - and it turned into the party of the spring!

Nearly 170 runners from all over the northwest (and even a few from further away) came for the inaugural St. Patrick's Day 5km race. Needless to say we were shocked by the response.

2018 was a tough winter to train in, with ridiculous snow falls. So far this winter we've been pretty lucky. Knock on wood! Hopefully that continues, as it will really help you achieve the forthcoming challenge.

The challenge for the 2019 Skeena Valley Runners St. Patrick's Day 5km is for each and every runner to beat their time from last year. And if you didn't run last year, the challenge is to run this year, of course!

With some of last year's proceeds Skeena Valley Runners paid to get our very own Adrienne Kaul certified as a coach. She's been working with a number of the high school competitors in town.

Now she's going to help you.

Adrienne has created the following couch-to-5k training plan specific for our race. It is designed for newcomers to running, or for those who have had a long layoff. It's easy to follow, and don't be afraid to reach out to Adrienne or others on our Facebook group for questions or help. Access the training plan here.

If you're at a more advanced stage of your running life, Coach Adrienne highly recommends that you follow Hal Higdon's intermediate 5km training plan.

Are you ready to accept the challenge? Coach Adrienne and the Skeena Valley Runners are here to help you achieve it!
